When dusting or cleaning out cupboards and shelves, start with the ones highest up and work downwards so those pesky bits of dust, dirt and fluff won’t fall on your nice clean surfaces.
Always vacuum or mop a room when you’ve finished cleaning everything else in it – and start in a corner and work towards the door to avoid getting marooned!
When cleaning windows, use scrunched-up newspaper and wipe horizontally inside and vertically outside (or vice versa). That way if there’s a smear, you’ll know which side it’s on.
If you can get your hands on a good steam cleaner with zillions of attachments, it can be used for a multitude of cleaning purposes – floors, curtains, ovens, between tiles, not to mention getting in hard-to-reach areas and lifting those stubborn stains.
Listen to your favourite music while you clean. It’ll put you in a good mood and lighten the load.
