Six Summer Essentials

While we’re on the subject of summer safety, here are our top tips to keep it safe in the sun:

  1. Stay hydrated. It’s essential to drink plenty of water during the warmer months to prevent dehydration and regulate body temperature. Ideally, keep a bottle with you at all times and sip regularly. If you find water a bit bland and boring, jazz it up a bit with sugar-free cordial.

  2. Slap on the SPF! Protecting your skin against the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays is another summer essential. It’s important to make sure you never burn by using a factor 15+ sun cream and staying in the shade between 11am and 3pm. Take extra care with children too.

  3. Safeguard against stings. If you’re particularly susceptible to insect bites and stings or if you’re going on holiday, make sure those mozzies don’t make a meal of you. Insect repellant is available in creams, roll-ons and sprays, as well as in some sun creams. Citronella candles are ideal for deterring inserts when sitting in the garden. Make sure you visit your local pharmacy for sting soothing products.
