Holiday hygiene – home and away

Most of us feel a lot more relaxed in the summer months, but that doesn’t mean our hygiene habits should slip. Here are a few things to remember, whether you’re at home, or away.

We can’t rely on the Great British Summer, but we can make sure we’re as safe as possible whether we’re in the sun or not. This year, alongside all the usual summer health warnings, there’s another, slightly more unseasonal health concern in the news: the flu virus. Current government advice is that there’s absolutely no reason to be alarmed, but it’s always worth bearing a few hygiene factors in mind as we enjoy the summer months.

At home
Summer days are perfect for entertaining outdoors, but while your garden may be looking tip top, how’s the rest of the area shaping up?

  • Whether you’re having a picnic in the garden or barbecue with friends, ensure everything’s hygienically clean by giving garden furniture, toys, barbecues and bins a quick wipe with Zoflora,
  • Pour the used Zoflora bucket down the drain to ensure there are no nasty niffs to ruin the ambiance!
  • Keep uneaten food covered up at all times to guard against flies.
  • If you’re firing up the BBQ, ensure you do it safely. Read the Top Tips For Summer Sizzling article here.

UK holiday
Camping and caravan holidays are seeing something of a revival this summer, but while there’s nothing as fun as holidaying outdoors, it’s important to keep things hygienically clean.

  • Caravans are fabulously retro, but avoid the retro musty smell by giving them a good wipe with Zoflora at the start of the holiday.
  • Wash your hands regularly (or if you’re in the middle of nowhere, use an antibacterial hand sanitiser) to avoid the spread of germs.
  • Sometimes even the best hygiene can fail to stop germs, so ensure you pack diarrhoea tablets and rehydration sachets in case the worst should happen!
