Caudwell Children - Real Life Stories
Here at Zoflora, we’re passionate about protecting loved ones and supporting families who need it most. And that’s why we are proud to be partnering with UK charity, Caudwell Children, to help create an engaging, sensory outdoor space for their Caudwell International Children’s Centre.
The garden we created with Caudwell Children was officially unveiled at the RHS Royal Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2017 and will soon be re-imagined at the Caudwell International Children’s Centre.
Caudwell Children have provided over £39 million worth of services to over 25,000 children and their families to date. We’ve selected just a few of the children who have been helped by Caudwell Children over the years to show you some of the incredible work carried out by the charity.
Two-year-old Florence Ackroyd has an undiagnosed condition that has resulted in her having global development delay. The condition has left her unable to talk and she becomes anxious in noisy environments.
But now, thanks to Caudwell Children, Florence can relax in a ‘Sensory Area’ within the family’s home after the charity supplied her with a Light Sensory Pack.
Hazel took to social media to thank the charity and she posted on Facebook; “The sensory pack is fantastic and it’s already had a huge impact on Florence. My husband and I haven’t seen our daughter this happy in a long time. We can’t thank Caudwell Children enough.”
6 ½ year-old, Jaylen Draper, has been diagnosed with sensory processing disorder with autistic traits. His condition has left him sensitive to light, noise and touch and he has no sense of danger. He can often become anxious as a result of his sensory needs.
But now, thanks to Caudwell Children, the Silkmore Primary Academy pupil can relax in a ‘Sensory Area’ within the family’s home.
Jaylen’s mum explained. “...thanks to this specialist equipment my son has a dedicated sensory area where he can retreat to if everything is getting too much for him. It works really well and it helps him to refocus.”
“The kit is a great distraction for him and will improve his well-being immeasurably. We can’t thank Caudwell Children enough!”
5 year old, Jacob Blayney, is autistic. He struggles to communicate with other children and he has difficulties processing a variety of senses including sight, sound and touch.
As a result Jacob often becomes anxious in noisy environments but now, thanks to Caudwell Children, Jacob can relax in a ‘Sensory Area’ within the family’s home after the charity funded a Light Sensory Pack for him.
Jacob’s mother, Joanne, says that without the support of Caudwell Children the family would have been unable to buy the pack. She said: “The support of Caudwell Children has been vital for Jacob, and the calming effects of the equipment have been immediate. He absolutely adores playing with the bubble tube, the LED lights and the fibre optics. It’s magical to see the difference the sensory equipment has made.”
Make sure you head to the Caudwell Children website to find out more about the amazing work they do to support disabled children and their families across the UK.
