The Big Clean Up comes to Autism Flintshire

Autism Charity and Zoflora Call on Volunteers to Help with Community Campaign

Higher Shotton charity Autism Flintshire and leading concentrated disinfectant brand Zoflora, are calling for the community to help them in a “Big Clean Up” event on Thursday 20 October.

The parent led autism specific support group is based at the Aston Community Centre in Higher Shotton, and due to heavy usage of the facility, a deep clean is required to ensure an inviting atmosphere throughout Autumn.

Autism Flintshire is a volunteer led group, and was set up by Janette Danks and Carla Gambino. Janette has two children, one with Autism and one with Aspergers Syndrome, and the lack of autism specific support led the two women to create the charity to support other families who are affected by autism. Every volunteer at the centre has either work or life skills that can benefit the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) community in some way.

Janette, Carla and Zoflora know how important it is to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for the service users, and have joined forces to make the centre the best it can be. To ensure it is spic and span for the new season, a team of professional cleaners will come in and work alongside volunteers to clean it from top to bottom. So Autism Flintshire is calling on anyone who has a spare hour to come and don the cleaning gloves to make sure every nook and cranny is gleaming.

Founder of Autism Flintshire, Janette commented: “We know how important it is to keep the centre in top condition, and as it is volunteer led it can be hard work. So to have Zoflora and members of our community come in to help us, is incredible.”

The “Big Clean Up” will take place between 10am and 1pm on Thursday 20th October, and the charity is calling for 10 volunteers to help. As a thank you, Zoflora will be providing snacks, refreshments, campaign T-shirts and product-packed goody bags to those who give their time on the day.

The ‘Clean Up’ campaign with Autism Flintshire is part of an initiative from Zoflora which reaches out to communities around the UK. The Zoflora ‘Big Clean Up’ team will look to help worthy causes that are in need of a fresh start, and will clean up and reinvigorate their much needed facilities.
